ABAII Unitour at Thuongmai University: “Blockchain and AI Reshaping Global Logistics and Supply Chains”

According to ABAII Unitour experts, AI can reduce logistics costs by up to 25% and improve warehouse efficiency by up to 60%. Leading logistics corporations are also continually making significant Blockchain investments, with budgets reaching hundreds of millions of USD to build more transparent and optimized supply chains.

On October 7, 2024, Academy of Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence Innovation (abbreviated ABAII), in collaboration with the Vietnam Blockchain Association, held a seminar titled “Opportunities and Challenges for the Global Logistics and Supply Chain Industry in the Era of Blockchain and AI at the Thuongmai University in Hanoi. The event attracted nearly 700 students and leading logistics, Blockchain, and AI experts.

This is the 11th activity in the ABAII Unitour series, expected to be held at 30 universities nationwide, with approximately 20,000 students attending in person. The goal is to promote a widespread understanding of Blockchain and AI.

During the seminar, MSc. Trần Lê Hồng Vân, a consultant at Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG) and lecturer at the ABAII Academy, shared insights on the significant impact of AI in optimizing logistics costs. She cited examples showing that AI allows businesses to reduce logistics costs by 15-25% through optimizing transportation routes and inventory management. AI also enhances warehouse efficiency by up to 60% and reduces order processing time by 35%, helping businesses increase productivity and improve service quality.

Ms. Trần Lê Hồng Vân emphasized that Blockchain and AI are fundamentally transforming the global supply chain.

In addition, the potential of Blockchain technology to comprehensively reshape the global supply chain was highlighted with a specific example from Deutsche Post DHL Group—one of the world’s largest logistics corporations, operating in over 220 countries and territories. According to Ms. Hồng Vân, the group plans to invest up to 105 million USD in developing Blockchain applications in logistics from now until 2025.

Dr. Lê Linh Lương, Vice Director of the ABAII Academy, stated that the combination of AI and Blockchain not only improves the logistics and supply chain industry specifically, but also promotes the development of the e-commerce sector in general by analyzing consumer behavior, optimizing marketing, and advertising activities, and helping businesses capture emerging trends.

Dr. Le Linh Luong, Deputy Director of the ABAII Institute, emphasized that besides the benefits and efficiency that AI brings, users need to be cautious to use AI responsibly to protect the privacy of themselves and the community.

However, Dr. Lương also cautioned that implementing AI and Blockchain faces many challenges, particularly the shortage of highly skilled professionals to manage and operate complex systems. He noted that without proper preparation, adopting these two technologies could impact around 300 million full-time jobs globally, including e-commerce. Therefore, in addition to waiting for a complete legal framework, educational institutions and businesses need to proactively collaborate with educational organizations to develop specialized training programs tailored to specific needs, helping businesses apply technology more effectively.

“From the perspective of students, proactively keeping up with trends and mastering technology is essential, and should even be considered a mandatory requirement to avoid falling behind,” Mr. Lương emphasized. Therefore, in addition to the formal educational programs provided by schools, students must take the initiative to explore and learn new knowledge and skills in emerging technology fields through various learning methods such as in-person, online, or short-term training courses.

For example, with MasterTeck, Vietnam’s leading online learning platform for Blockchain and AI, learners can actively engage in over 300 diverse courses and have the opportunity to earn international certifications from organizations like CompTIA, EC-Council, PECB, and NFT certificates from the ABAII Academy.

At the event, experts participated in a discussion session titled “An Overview of Future Job Opportunities and Essential Skills for Students to Adapt to the Development of the Logistics Industry.”

The program featured Mr. Nguyễn Văn Tiệp (Deputy Director of Training at ABAII Academy, Co-founder of Vietsun International Investment and Development Co., Ltd.), Mr. Hoàng Minh Thiện (Deputy Director of Blockchain Training and Entrepreneurship Center), Mr. Nguyễn Minh Cường (Founder and CEO of AloBase), and Ms. Phạm Thùy Linh (Founder of S.H.E Blockchain, Talent Development Director at ABAII Academy).

Notably, the experts at the seminar dedicated significant time to sharing fundamental issues regarding AI ethics and responsible AI practices. These are important recommendations, helping students gradually develop habits of establishing and adhering to ethical standards and community principles in AI and Blockchain, fostering a proactive approach to building a sustainable and healthy new technology market.
