On October 13th, Vietnam Blockchain Association (VBA) conducted a training program to enhance knowledge about blockchain and practical applications for faculty members in foreign languages, economics, and law… at the Foreign Trade University (FTU) – Campus 2 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Both parties also initially agreed to establish the Blockchain Uni Lab (Blockchain Research Lab) and a blockchain club to serve the research and teaching processes of lecturers and students at FTU University in the coming period.
Within the framework of the Training Course on Economics and International Economics for faculty members in foreign languages organized by the International Economics Department of FTU, the training program, jointly conducted by the International Economics Department and Campus 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, focused on the theme “International Economic Knowledge with Specialization in Digital Economy and the Practical Development of Vietnam’s Digital Economy”. It received attention from faculty members from various departments including foreign languages, economics, law, and science…
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quoc Trung – Vice Director of FTU Campus 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that training and enhancing the capacity of staff and lecturers is always a core task of FTU. This is to serve the teaching work of lecturers and, more broadly, to apply blockchain knowledge to manage and resolve legal issues in the economic sector as a whole.
Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Xuan Binh, Head of the International Economics Department at FTU Hanoi, stated: “Knowledge about digital economy, green economy is something that all lecturers need to grasp in the current context. That is why the International Economics Department has implemented training programs on digital economics and green economics for lecturers, with the participation of leading economic experts. When it comes to new economies, blockchain is a field, a technological infrastructure that cannot be overlooked at this time.”
The training program began with a presentation by Mr. Phan Duc Trung, Deputy Permanent Vice Chairman of VBA, on the “Overview of the Blockchain Industry” and related legal issues. It included defining concepts such as digital assets, virtual assets, and their significance in developing the digital economy, emphasizing the importance of Anti-Money Laundering Laws in the context of the blockchain industry lacking specific legal frameworks. He also urged the participation of economic legal experts to contribute to building a more complete digital economy.
Technical issues related to blockchain technology were condensed into two sections on “Digital Wallets” and “Components of Blockchain,” shared by Mr. Tran Le Hung, Deputy Head of the Fintech Application Committee at VBA. Mr. Hung provided practical information on identifying various types of digital wallets, comparing data storage and customer verification processes between Web2 and Web3 environments, between traditional finance and decentralized finance, thereby helping lecturers from different fields understand technical aspects in the digital economy.
During the Q&A session, FTU Campus 2 lecturers in Ho Chi Minh City expressed interest in the prospect of training blockchain personnel right at the university. VBA speakers affirmed the feasibility of establishing student blockchain clubs under the university’s management, encouraging the participation of multiple departments and VBA experts contributing as advisory roles, organizing seminars, and training sessions aimed at students and faculty.
Earlier, on September 19th, VBA also organized its first knowledge enhancement program on blockchain technology at the Foreign Trade University’s main headquarters in Hanoi. These activities aim to fulfill the commitment to collaborate on training digital economy resources as agreed upon in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between VBA and FTU on December 22, 2022.
